Yayyyyy first stretch goal met!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 15, 2020 at 10:38:47 PM

Hey everyone

After anxiously watching the numbers gradually ticking up over the last few days, I'm delighted to announce that we've gone over £10,000! This means we get a full-colour book, and the stretch goal by Gav Thorpe I described in this update.

It also means it's time to announce a few stretch goal:

Rank and Duty by Joanna Piancastelli

  • Humanity has always consisted of those who lead and those who follow - which are you? An optional module that’s especially suited to games with a strong military focus, Rank and Duty brings more structure to the Last Fleet’s chain of command and helps you create play by making and breaking the rules.
  •  Joanna Piancastelli is a tabletop RPG designer and larpwright. Her RPG Before the Storm was part of the IGDN Game of the Year Seven Wonders Anthology, and her Golden Cobra winning larp Unheroes has been played around the world.

I'm a big fan of Joanna's work, and I'm excited to see what she does with this. Rank and Duty will be unlocked at £13,000.

Until then, thanks for your support in getting the campaign this far! I'm so pleased to have met this stretch goal.

Cheers

Week 1 update
over 4 years ago – Thu, Jan 09, 2020 at 09:30:55 PM

Hey everyone

I'm so pleased with how the campaign is going so far! One week in, and we're closing in on 400 backers and £9000. We're well on our way to having full colour art throughout and a cool new setting from Gav Thorpe. And I've got more exciting stretch goals to announce when we get there.

In the meantime, you might be interested in some of the media coverage of Last Fleet.

  • I wrote an article about the Scorpio playbook for Geek Native
  • I've also written about the pressure mechanics in detail for Indie Uncovered
  • Beau Sheldon interviewed me for Five Or So Questions on Thoughty

Please do share these around if you know people who might find them interesting. There's lots more cool media stuff to come, and I'll keep you posted on that as it happens.

In the meantime, thanks for all your support.

Cheers

Funded - and our first stretch goal is Gav Thorpe!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Jan 07, 2020 at 01:50:12 PM

Hello everyone

As you may already have noticed, we reached our funding target over the weekend, and have now shot past it. I'm so pleased. Thank you for helping to make it happen.

Of course, the campaign won't be resting on its laurels now. I'm very excited to announce our first stretch goal. If we make it to £10,000, the interior art will be updated to 100% full colour, and in addition we will get a brand new alternative setting written by NYT bestseller and David Gemmell Legend winner Gav Thorpe. Gav is kind of a hero for me, from my days playing Warhammer 40,000, so I'm really excited to have him write for Last Fleet.

Here's his bio from the newly-updated campaign page:

  •  Gav Thorpe has been a games designer and author for over twenty years, mostly in the Warhammer universes, and has worked on numerous tabletop and video games as designer, writer and world creation consultant. He is a New York Times bestselling author, and won the 2017 David Gemmell Legend Award for his novel Warbeast.
  • If we reach £10,000 (about $13,000), Gav will be writing a setting pack that takes the players to a fantastical realm of teleporting cities, crossing multiverses to escape the growing power of Death itself. Players must gain the goodwill of the gods through endeavour, sacrifice and prayer to stay ahead of doom.

Thanks again for getting us this far, and please do share this exciting news with anyone you think might be interested!

Cheers
